Behind the Scenes: Crafting a Tribute to our Heroes

Every detail of the Woody Williams Foundation custom Monument Coin Display began with a shared mission—to create a lasting tribute worthy of a Medal of Honor recipient and the Gold Star Families. Our team at Coin Displays worked closely with the Foundation to design a custom display that would both protect and proudly showcase the Foundation’s commemorative challenge coin along side a replica of the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument. From early sketches to creating the first sample, the focus was on balance, elegance, and symbolism.

Our Monument Coin Displays are crafted from two premium exotic hardwoods—Wenge and Sapele. Wenge’s rich, dark grain provides a bold, dignified foundation, while Sapele’s warm reddish tone brings contrast and warmth. To complete the tribute, each display is finished with gold accents that mirror the detailing of the real Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, creating a cohesive and elegant reflection of the memorial’s timeless design.
