All of our products are hand-made out of natural woods. We hand select each piece to give you the best color and grain possible. View the available woods below. As fingerprints of our world's forest, the colors and grains may vary.

African Padauk

African Padauk

African Padauk wood is from Central and tropical west Africa and can reach heights of 130 ft with a diameter of up to 4 ft.  The heartwood color can vary, ranging from a pale pinkish orange to a deep brownish red. Most pieces tend to start reddish orange when freshly cut, darkening substantially over time to a reddish/purplish brown to nearly black.

Jatoba

Jatoba

Jatoba wood is from Central America, southern Mexico, northern South America, and the West Indies and can reach heights of 100 ft with a diameter of up to 2-4 ft. Heartwood varies from a light orangish brown to a darker reddish brown, sometimes with contrasting darker grayish brown streaks. Color tends darken upon exposure to light. Sapwood is a light grayish yellow, clearly demarcated from the heartwood.

Sapele

Sapele

Sapele wood is from Africa and can reach heights of 100-150 ft with a diameter of up to 3-5 ft. Heartwood is a medium to dark reddish brown or purplish brown. Color tends to darken with age. Besides the common ribbon pattern seen on quartersawn boards, Sapele is also known for a wide variety of other figured grain patterns, such as: pommele, quilted, mottled, wavy, beeswing, and fiddleback.
