The origin of challenge coins dates back to World War I when an American was shot down behind enemy lines. Stripped of all his belongings except his small leather pouch containing a coin, the pilot was held captive by the Germans in a small French town. One night during some heavy fighting, he managed to escape avoiding the Germans and reached a French outpost. With no identification, the insignia on the coin was recognized by the French saving this young pilot’s life.
There are many who keep this tradition going providing custom coins for our military however one has gone above and beyond. While stationed at Camp Lejeune, Jeff Morin witnessed the effect a challenge coin can make on someone. Determined to recreate this affect, he started Coins for Anything, Inc. in 2002 with the goal to provide the finest quality custom-made challenge coins in the industry.
Their focus is on military challenge coins, however, Coins for Anything knew the applications were limitless. Quickly spreading beyond the military, they have produced coins for corporations such as rewards for outstanding service, employee recognition, company business cards, gifts cards and loyalty discounts. Having a baby? Getting married? The traditional tins with chocolates or pink and blue candy covered almonds are favors of the past. Coins commemorating these moments create a unique keepsake everyone will treasure and remember for generations to come.
